Most of the time, choosing a domain name for your new web site is easy as it will match your company or trading name. Sometimes it's not that easy because your chosen name is not available, so you try a few alternatives.

 

However, whether the choice was easy or not, you need to make sure you have put enough thought into the name you register.

 

A recent survey found that 41% of UK businesses spend less than an hour choosing their domain name and over half do not think to seek a second option. 33% of companies later regret their choice.

 

You may have already seen this selection of "interesting" (and real!) domain name choices:

 

 - the first word is not "the"!

As part of our standard hosting package, we include LiveStats which gives you detailed information about the usage of your web site.

 

You can access it via the Support web site. Go to the Account Details tab and select your web site. The link can be found towards the bottom of the page. You may want to bookmark the login page (after clicking the link) in order to speed up future access.

Buliding Photography undertakes commissions for architectural photography. As well as the photography of individual buildings, this can include townscapes, gardens and landscapes.

 

Building Photography has a continually growing archive of building related images and wanted to be able to display some of them on their web site.

 

To allow them to maintain the portfolio section themselves, we built a bespoke portfolio management system. This allows Building Photography to create as many categories as required.

 

Images can then be uploaded to the web site and assigned to one or more categories. Building Photography only need to upload one size of image, as the admin system automatically creates the thumbnail images for use on the category and listing pages.

 

The admin system also allows Building Photography to control some other parts of the web site.
